October 15th is the national day for Pregnancy and Infant Loss Rememberance. I was out of town, so I was unable to honor my two angels along with all my "friends" who have suffered loss too. Ironically enough...Oct. 17 was my 2 year anniversary of my first loss. My first miscarriage was at 10.5 weeks, and I remember the day like it was yesterday. I remember it as well as I remember the births of Brady and Bryce. I remember the exact words and faces at the dr.'s office, I remember the "feeling" of the news, and I remember the actual miscarriage process. My second angel was lost at 8 weeks and that was May 7, 2008, right around the EDD of my first miscarriage (ironic, right). I remember that loss as well as the first, unfortunately. I am so blessed to have my two living angels, Brady and Bryce. With Brady, I was so naive as to what could happen in pregnancy, and thankfully I had a blissful pregnancy. With Bryce, because of my two losses in between, I was much more anxious and I didn't enjoy my pregnancy wit him as much. I was sooo relieved when he was born.
I am afraid to get pregnant again, as I don't know if I can deal with another loss. Yes, the reward is awesome, but at what cost? My dr's assure me it was just "bad luck" and there was no medical reason for my losses, but miscarriages are so "common." I have a wonderful group of amazing ladies who had all experienced losses (some much, much more difficult than mine), and I thank God for them everyday. It is so wonderful to have people who know how you feel. How you drive down the road and wonder who is missing in your life. What were my babies? Boys? Girls? What would I have named them? I know they are looking down and they sent me Bryce to help heal my wounds, but I will never forget them.
If you know someone who has lost a pregnancy or an infant, give them a special hug and acknowledge their angel-it means the world, trust me.
I will post some pics from our trip in the next couple of days-we had a great time, but are so happy to be home!
